Saint Isidore the Laborer was a Spanish farmer whose faith was so strong he would sometimes neglect his plowing and planting duties because he was so swept up in devotion. Fortunately, an angel helped him by plowing while he was busy. In Haitian Vodou he is syncretized with Kouzen Zaka, a simple but shrewd agricultural lwa (spirit) who presides over business and matchmaking.
