Never burn a candle unattended.
Place candles that are not in containers on a heatproof, level surface while burning.
Anoint candles by rubbing surface with a small amoint of oil or, if they are in a container, make a small hole near the edge with a pencil, pen, or wooden skewer and place a drop of oil inside. Oils are flammable, so less is safer and better.
If your candle is smoking excessively or has an abnormally high flame, or if the flame is touching the container, extinguish immediately.
