The various statues in this group correspond to aspects of the sea in both its physical and spiritual forms, as the sea symbolizes the imagination and the invisible world of spirit.  Please look carefully through the variants and find the one that works best for your needs!

Yemaya is revered in Yoruba traditions like Lucumí, Santería, Candomble, and Umbanda as the orisha of the sea and the mother of all life.  In Haitian Vodou, the mermaid lwa LaSyrenn roughly corresponds to Yemaya for her connection with the sea; however, rather than a maternal figure, she is the source of magic, intuition, and natural initiation into the mysteries.  Olokùn-- a related spirit seen alternately as male, female, or androgynous-- rules the unseeable depths of the ocean and is the source of all treasures buried there.  In Haitian Vodou, this deep sea version of LaSyrenn is known as LaBalenn.
